Lukas Heiniger

Lukas Heiniger heads the IT and Technology unit, which comprises three groups: 

• The Electronics Laboratory (ELAB) is responsible for the operation, monitoring and further development of the seismic networks and provides technical support for research projects
• The IT Systems and Support group operates shared IT infrastructure and provides client support
• The FOS-Lab develops fiber-optic sensors for earthquake detection

With a background in electrical engineering, software development and geophysics, Lukas Heiniger coordinates the use of technologies and resources across sections, promotes synergies and steers the development of architectures, infrastructures, tools and processes that enable research at the cutting edge of technology and ensure smooth technical operation.
